Fortuna Düsseldorf Announce Adidas Kit Deal
Joining fellow 2. Bundesliga site Nürnberg, Fortuna Düsseldorf a few days announced a joint kit deal with 11teamsports and Adidas.
It will be the first time in club history that Fortuna Düsseldorf's jerseys are made by Adidas, although the partnership is not direct and also involves German sports retailer 11teamsports. 11teamsports will be "responsible for the entire implementation on site, including the finishing [off the kits]."
The new partnership, effective from 1 July 2021, will have a difficult task ahead in terms of improving on the current one with Uhlsport kit-wise. Uhlsport has produced quite a few great kits, including a number of special editions, in close collaboration with the club over the last few years. The exact duration of the deal is not known, but it should be the same or similar to Nürnberg's five years.
There will definitely be an improvement on the financial side of things as the club expect a 35% boost compared to currently.
"In economic terms, this is the best supplier contract in the club's history," said Fortuna's Marketing Director Christian Koke in an interview with RP. “The conversations had been going on for a while. I have to admit, it was a nice feeling when Adidas told us that our concept had completely convinced them. After all, it comes from a company that has worked with Real Madrid and FC Bayern for a long time."
11teamsports will also take care of storage and shipping of orders from the club store. Interestingly, 11teamsports managing director Dennis Schröder has a past with the club and was even sounded out for a managing role at Fortuna just last year according to reports.
It's by no means 11teamsports' first deal of this kind as the company already works with the likes of Augsburg (Nike), Bochum (Nike) or Ingolstadt (Puma).
