New Borussia Dortmund 20-21 Squad Numbers Announced - Haaland, Emre Can, Hazard & More
BVB goal scorer Erling Haaland will be wearing a new shirt number from the 2020-21 season, it has been revealed - BVB announced new kit numbers for five of their players for the 2020-21 season.
Borussia Dortmund 2020-2021 Squad Numbers
As Borussia Dortmund announced on Friday, the Norwegian will give up the 17 and will wear the 9 on his shirt in future. When Haaland came to BVB from RB Salzburg last winter, the classic centre-forward number was still occupied by Paco Alcacer. The Spaniard, however, moved to FC Villarreal shortly after Haaland's signing. Since then the jersey with the number 9 has been vacant.
In addition to Haaland, four other professionals will be appearing next season with new numbers on their backs. Thorgan Hazard (No. 23 so far) gets the 10, which became free after the departure of Mario Götze. Dan-Axel Zagadou (previously 2) will receive the number 5 on his back, left behind by Achraf Hakimi, who is moving to Inter Milan. Zagadou's No. 2 goes to youngster Mateu Morey (No. 22 so far). National team player Emre Can will also receive a new BVB number with the 23, which he already wore at Juventus Turin and Liverpool FC. Up to now, the defensive all-rounder has been on the road with the No. 27.
