Bayern Munich To Get No 5th Star - Bundesliga Stars Rule Explained
FC Bayern München could very well win their 30 German title this season. However, the club would not get a fifth star on their kits for that achievement because of two main reasons.
Bundesliga Stars Rule Explained:
First, only German titles won since the Bundesliga era started (1963 to now) are counted, so Bayern just won 28 titles so far (excluding the possible 29th title in the 2019-2020 season).
Second, and more importantly, there is no rule for a club to get five stars - four stars are the maximum currently. The championship stars rule in the German Bundesliga was introduced in 2004 ahed of the 2004-2005 season.
Bundesliga Stars Rule:
1 Star: 3 titles
2 Stars: 5 titles
3 Star: 10 titles
4 Star: 20 titles
5 Stars: ??? - Not Defined Yet
Bundesliga Teams With Stars Rule:
Bayern Munich 4 Stars for 20 Bundesliga titles (28 in total), the 1932 German championship win is not counted.
Borussia Mönchengladbach 2 Stars
Borussia Dortmund 2 Stars
Werder Bremen 1 Star, 3 titles
Hamburger SV 1 Star, 3 titles
VfB Stuttgart 1 Star, 3 titles
We could well expect that the German Bundesliga will introduce a rule for the fifth star in the coming years.
