2020-21 Kit Launches Postponed Due To Unavailability?

Usually, the 2020 UEFA Euro would be in full swing. However, this year everything is different due to the Coronavirus. There have been very few 2020-21 jersey releases so far - let us find out what the reasons are.

Reasons For 2020-2021 Kit Launches To Take Place Later

Not The Right Time To Launch Kits:

The first reason why as few 2020 soccer jerseys have been launched is that brands did not want to release jerseys in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. This applies to the 2020-21 national team jerseys, which launches were mostly pushed back (to Fall 2020 likely).

There were a few national teams hat released new kits in March 2020 such as Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Some German club teams waited for the last matchdays to launch their new kits, as it is tradition.

Unavailability Of Kits:

The season reason why we have seen as few kit releases is that brands are simply not able to keep their original production and shipping dates. Just very few 2020-21 kits of teams are already available to buy - Bayern Munich (home), Gladbach (third), Ajax and a few others.

In fact, Leipzig already debuted their 2019-20 home kit, but is it not available to buy until July 27 2020. The same applies to Bournemouth's new 2020-2021 home shirt, which is also not available to purchase.

There is no official info about the big brands and their release dates, but some details emerged about smaller teams.

Ipswich traditionally reveal their new look in late May but, due to the impact of the coronavirus crisis, this year’s launch has had to be pushed back. Ipswich Town are hopeful of revealing their new home kit for the 2020/21 season in June stil.

It was also reported that the Coronavirus holds up production for Bradford City new kit. The Coronavirus shut down production in China.

“Everybody likes football kits and we are quite mindful to reveal the new look for next season,” said Brentford director of communications Ryan Sparks.

“As soon as they land in the country, and they are on their way to us now, we will be looking to turn it round as quickly as possible.

“We have been working towards a July date and have no reason to believe that it’s going to change.”

FC Barcelona will launch their new home kit on July 3, with a debut it in the Derby against Espanyol, played on July 7 or 8 (originally planned for the end of May 2020). The away will be released "at a later date".
