Detailed Analysis | Nike 2004-05 Kits

Just around 10 days ago, we launched Football Kit Archive, our new website about classic football shirts. Today, in cooperation with Football Kit Archive, we want to take a look back at Nike's kits of the 2005-2005 season.

The mid-2000s were very interesting for football kit addicts who are interested in the use of streamlined templates and designs. All big brands (Adidas, Nike and Puma) did not design bespoke jersey templates for their teams but introduced very remarkable template designs, which brought many teams "similar looking kits".

Nike 2004-05 Template Kits

For the 2004-05 season, most of Nike's jerseys featured the same template - the Nike Total 90 jersey template, designed and launched for the EURO 2004 in Portugal.

The Nike T90 template was used for almost all important Nike jerseys of the 04-05 season. However, while the national team jerseys for 2004-2005 did not had big modifications of the template (and looked extremely streamlined), some club kits used a modified version of the template. In example, for striped kits, Nike did not use the exact template to give the stripes more freedom and space, and some 2005-2005 kits also featured classic collars.

A detailed look reveals that the away / third kits of Barca, Inter, Man Utd and other teams all feature different executions of stripe design elements (pinstripes / differently sized stripes / horizontal stripes).
