Official Debut Incoming: Full FC Barcelona 19-20 Font Revealed - Champions League Only
Update: The Barcelona first team will finally debut their new font officially in the Champions League opener away to Dortmund next Tuesday.
The club's 'B' and youth teams have already used the font in their first league matches of the new season, and now Leo Messi and Co. are set to follow. Unfortunately, the font is still only available to those who shop at a physical location such as the famous Camp Nou store.
Update: Following the club's first two preseason games, we've had a look at pictures from the game to give you a better look at the new club font 'FC Barcelona Play'. Unfortunately and incomprehensibly, the font is not available online anywhere and can only be bought in the local official club stores.
A day after the presentation of Frenkie de Jong, FC Barcelona today officially revealed their brand-new typeface, 'FC Barcelona Play'.
The FC Barcelona Play font will be used by the football team in all competitions that don't prohibit the use of a custom design: most importantly the UEFA CHampions League, but also friendlies and the Copa del Rey final. In the league, Barcelona will continue to use the La Liga typeface design, just like in the previous two seasons.
In 2017, La Liga introduced a streamlined font to be used by all teams of the Spanish first division, similar to the Premier League. Real Madrid were really unhappy with it and even filled a lawsuit against being forced to use the font of La Liga. Real Madrid used an own font and never the La Liga font in the Champions League, however, in contrast to Barcelona.

The new Nike FC Barcelona 19-20 kit font features a more classy design than the league-wide La Liga typeface. The letters feature an edged design with a thin line, the numbers come with the Barca crest. Another difference is that the names of player are aligned straight and not on a curve as with the league font.
Although Barcelona had exclusive font designs before, it's the first time that the club undertook the challenge of coming up with a new design as previous typefaces were created by Nike.
Conceptually, FC Barcelona Play is a typography based on the origins and history of the club, Catalan modernism in the late nineteenth century and specifically relating to the direct link between Barça and the current artistic and aesthetic trends in the city of Barcelona and Catalonia. The intention was that each word written with the typography had its own personality and ability to have variants.
The FC Barcelona 19-20 font is available when customizing kits at the official club stores, although it cannot be selected in the online store (at the moment).
