Next-Gen Nike Mercurial Superfly VII Debut Boots Revealed

Nike just officially revealed the highly anticipated Mercurial Superfly 7 boots. Breaking the previous two-year cycle, the Nike Mercurial Superfly VII cleats are being launched only a little over a year after the old generation.

The Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 and Vapor 12 Elite soccer boots will be available to buy from tomorrow, July 7th.

Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 - Blue Hero / White / Obsidian

This is the 'New Lights' Nike Mercurial Superfly VII.

The next-gen Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 debut boots are predominantly 'blue hero' with white brandings.

Brandings - there are lots of them all across the upper of the two new Nike Mercurial boots. There's a large Swoosh on the outside, as well as a cropped 'Mercurial' writing, another small Swoosh towards the heel. On the inside is a large 'Just Do It' print, together with another Swoosh and a 'Merc' branding above it. Another Swoosh sits on the toebox.

Tech-wise, the updates from the previous generation to the Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 are less extensive than what we're used to.

The upper of the Nike Mercurial Superfly VII is 'more open' than that of its predecessor, to make it softer and more comfortable. 'High tenacity yarns' of Flyknit were then integrated into the upper structure in order to prevent it from overstretching and supply the necessary level of lockdown.

Inspired by cycling shoes, the Aerotrak sole plate of the Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 boots has also seen some small changes made to it from last year. According to Nike, together with the updated internal body, it "delivers more snap" than before.

All in all, the Nike Mercurial Superfly 7 looks like a solid update. Made in Italy, the new Nike Mercurial Superfly and Vapor boots weigh in at less than 200 gram, even less than before.
