800 Million Euro Deal - BMW Will Become Bayern München Sponsor From At Least 2025

Munich carmaker BMW and FC Bayern München have agreed to enter into a strategic partnership by 2025 at the latest, replacing Audi.

"Both sides signed a letter of intent last year," FC Bayern supervisory board member Edmund Stoiber told German outlet manager magazin.

BMW To Become Bayern München Shareholder & Sponsor From At Least 2025 For At Least 10 Years

BMW will sponsor the largest German football club in succession to Ingolstadt carmaker Audi for ten years and take over Audis' 8.33 percent stake in FC Bayern München AG. A BMW spokesman declined to comment.

According to information from the contractual partners, BMW will pay a total of 800 million Euro for the purchase of shares and sponsoring over the entire term of the contract.

As for the sponsorship side of the deal, it's being reported that BMW will double the amount received currently from Audi. This would mean around €40m per season compared to today's €20m.

Audi has been a shareholder of FCB AG since 2011 and the current sponsorship agreement runs until 2025. Talks are currently underway with the Volkswagen subsidiary to terminate the agreement prematurely.
