Say Goodbye - Here is The Full History & All Colorways of The Nike Hypervenom Football Boot Ever

After around five and a half year, Nike will replace the Nike Hypervenom Phantom boots in favor of the all-new Nike Phantom VNM. Let's take an in-depth look at the history of the Nike Hypervenom football boot, including all colorways and special editions ever launched.

First-Gen Nike Hypervenom Phantom - 2013-2015

The Nike Hypervenom football boots were launched in 2013 by Neymar in a orange and black. The successor of the Nike Total 90, the Nike Hypervenom Phantom 1 featured an all-new upper created using a new NIKESKIN system. This execution of NIKESKIN features a soft, supple mesh bound with a thin polyurethane film, and is finished off with Nike All Conditions Control technology (ACC) to provide the same level of foot-to-ball control in both wet and dry conditions.

The Nike Hypervenom Phantom I proofed to be extremely popular amongst players and quickly became one of the most sought after boots on the market. Today, the boot is regarded as one of the best-ever soccer cleats not only by Nike but by all brands.

Nike released at least 18 different editions for the first-generation Nike Hypervenom football boot.

Nike Hypervenom Phantom II - 2015 - EURO 2016

Introduced as the successor of one of the possibly best-ever Nike soccer shoes ever (first-generation Nike Hypervenom), the second-gen Nike Hypervenom Phantom II was the first to feature a Dynamic Fit collar.

However, the Nike Hypervenom 2 could not nearly reach the same status as the Nike Hypervenom 1. The second generation of the Hypervenom was overshadowed by the redesigned upper, which was deemed as too stiff and requiring too long to break in by many. Neymar, the most important player wearing the model, received camouflaged boots - based on the Mercurial but disguised to look like the Hypervenom.

The Nike Hypervenom Phantom II was launched in an eye-catching the Wolf Grey / Total Orange paint job.

Because of the problems with the upper, Nike released an updated version of the Nike Hypervenom Phantom II with first-gen esque upper, dubbed the Nike Hypervenom 2.5 by many.

Nike Hypervenom Phantom II - EURO 2016 - December 2016 (New Version With First-Gen Upper)

The updated version of the Nike Hypervenom Phantom II was released ahead of the EURO 2016 in France in a fresh Volt and blue colorway. The updated Hypervenom was released in 9 different colors in total.

Nike Hypervenom Phantom III - 2016-2018

A quite radical change to previous generation that were optimized for agility, the Nike Hypervenom 3 football boots were designed to do two things above all else: cut and strike. Having goal scoring in mind, the Nike Hypervenom underwent a radical makeover that includes a shift to Flyknit and the introduction of a new plate.

“This is a finisher’s boot,” explains Max Blau, VP of Nike Football Footwear. “Every component of this boot was built for goals.”

The Nike Hypervenom Phantom III was launched in a striking Poison Green/Hyper Orange colorway and received very different colorway during its lifetime. It should be the last generation of the Nike Hypervenom.

Nike Phantom Venom - 2019 - ?

The successor of the Nike Hypervenom is the Nike Phantom Venom football boot. Designed for the modern striker and reminding many of the Nike Total 90, the Nike Phantom Venom football boot will be headlined by the same players as the Nike Hypervenom - Lewandowski, Cavani, Icardi, Aubameyang & others.
