New FC Barcelona Logo Revealed
FC Barcelona just revealed a major update to its logo, which will go into effect in the upcoming season 2019-20 if approved by the club's members.
It's subtle but still pronounced change as the iconic 'FCB' lettering is dropped from the logo. Meanwhile, the key elements of the crest are retained, such as the St George's cross in reference to the city of Barcelona, the Catalan flag in the upper right hand corner, the blue-red stripes centered below and finally, the ball.
The crest update forms part of the FC Barcelona Strategic Plan, which aims to promote the club's brand globally. It also includes an exclusive font and a new visual identity, both of which are yet to be fully revealed. Also new is that FCB's nickname, 'Barça', will be used as an official name by the club.
Created by Barcelona-based creative agency Summa, the new FC Barcelona crest will be up for vote at the next members assembly on October 20. Should it be approved, it will be used from next season, including on the Barcelona 2019-2020 kit.
