Firmino Receives Protective Glasses Following Eye Injury
Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino showed off a unique pair of glasses in training today, following an eye injury he sustained in last weekend's Premier League game against Tottenham.
The Brazilian had his left eye accidentally gouged by Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen, which forced Firmino to be taken off and was also the reason behind him not starting vs PSG in midweek.
Now it looks like Firmino was advised to protect his eyes on further damage by putting on a pair of custom glasses, similar to the ones worn by former legend Edgar Davids. Similar to Davids', Firmino's goggles feature a strap that goes all the way around the back of the head.
It's likely that Firmino will wear the glasses in the game against Southampton on the weekend, but it remains to be seen whether it'll become a permanent thing as it was for Davids.
