Barcelona and Nike just unveiled the new Barcelona 18-19 home kit with an event at the iconic 1992 Olympic swimming facilities of Montjuïc. Produced by Nike, the Barcelona 2018-2019 home shirt introduces a new look with thin blue and red stripes. In fact, there are exactly 10 red stripes on the blue background, each one representing one Barcelona district: Les Corts, Sants-Montjuïc, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, La Barceloneta, Sant Martí, Ciutat Vella, Gràcia, Horta-Guinardó, Nou Barris and Sant Andreu.

“Barcelona is a place where the football club is absolutely fundamental to people’s lives,” explains Pete Hoppins, Nike Football Apparel Senior Design Director. “Iniesta is an icon and a hero to the people who live in those districts, so I think it’s very apt he will get to wear the new kit for his final game for the club.”

The Barcelona 18-19 kit drops this year's fading stripes design in favor of regular stripes which are much thinner than usual. Apart from the striping, Barcelona's 2018-19 shirt has the the same colors as this season's and once again uses gold for the Swoosh and white for the sponsor logos.

The collar of the Barcelona 2018-2019 jersey is navy with a Catalan flag detail at the back, while the sleeves continue to be solid blue just like in the last few years.

Template-wise, the Barcelona 2018-2019 home kit is based on the same as Nike's World Cup kits. The next generation of Nike Aeroswift, the template of the Barcelona 18-19 jersey introduces new knit pattern and a lighter overall construction.

Finally, dark navy shorts and socks complete the Barcelona 18-19 home kit. It's a clever little nod to Nike's first two seasons at the club. The brand took over from Kappa in 1998, which will have been exactly 20 years ago next summer.

The Barcelona 18-19 kit will be available to buy from May 21.
