France to Leave Nike? Adidas and Under Armour Reportedly Interested
The French football federation today officially announced that it has started looking into choosing which brand will be awarded the French national team contract for the period from 2018 to 2026.
France to Leave Nike?
France announced that it would first speak with the most important brands, with this obviously including the likes of current France jersey supplier, Nike, and the previous one, Adidas. Additionally, the federation says that interested brands can apply for the process until November 10, 2016.
Meanwhile, French media reported on brands that are supposedly interested in taking over from Nike, with reputable radio station Radio Monte Carlo claiming that Adidas and Under Armour would try to win over one of the most important contracts in the football world. RTL, another radio station, adds New Balance to this mix.
"We are pleased with Nike, and Nike is with us," said FFF (French Football Federation) president Noël Le Graët told L'Equipe recently.
The current contract between France and Nike, which was the most valuable for a national team when it started 2011, is valid until after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
