- Modified Upper: The boots feature the standard X 16 upper but without the lace cover, exposing the laces for better fit adjustment and ball connection.
- Unique Soleplate: The soleplate of Costa's boots is taken from the older 2014 Adidas F50 Adizero model and painted to match the color of the X 16.

Diego Costa's Camouflaged Adidas X 16+ PureChaos Red Limit Boots
As a player who has worn X 15 boots well beyond their life cycle, Diego Costa recently received his very own edition of the Adidas X 16+ PureChaos, allowing him to finally switch to the new model. Let's take a closer look at what he's really wearing.
Diego Costa's Camouflaged Adidas X 16+ PureChaos Boots
A full-on Frankenstein of a football boot, Diego Costa's new 'X 16+ PureChaos' appear to have the regular upper of the Adidas X 16, but come without the lace cover seen on the standard edition. Instead, the laces are uncovered to allow for easier adjusting of fit and to get rid of the two-layer construction of the X 16+ PureChaos for a more direct connection to the ball.
On top of that, the sole plate of Diego Costa's special Adidas X 16+ PureChaos boots has nothing in common with that of any of Adidas' recent boots. It's taken directly from the 2014 Adidas F50 Adizero and was painted to match the 'Stellar Pack' colorway of the X 16.
