Manchester United 16-17 Away Kit Released
The new Adidas Manchester United 16-17 away kit is blue in honor of the Red Devils' 1968 European Cup win over Benfica. Whereas the new Manchester United 2016-17 kit is loosely inspired by the very first Newton Heath jersey, the Manchester United 2016-2017 away kit follows its inspiration more closely. Launched on May 11, the Manchester United away shirt will be debuted in the pre-season game against Borussia Dortmund in July.
In the second year of a record-breaking long-term agreement with Manchester United, Adidas is putting its stamp on the club's uniforms even more, taking a cue from iconic kits throughout the history of Manchester United.

This is the new Manchester United away jersey.
Made by Adidas and based on the brand's overall Euro 2016 aesthetic, the Manchester United 2016-2017 away kit is royal blue, resembling the iconic all-blue kit worn in the 1968 European Cup final; Manchester United became the first English side to win the European Cup in the game against Benfica. The nostalgic inspiration of the Manchester United 16-17 away kit is further accentuated through the use of a distinct all-over print, designed to look similar to classic football jersey materials.
Red accents in the form of the Adidas Performance logo on the front and the three stripes, positioned on the shoulders, complement the striking appearance of the Manchester United 2016-17 away shirt. A 'Red Devils' detail is visible on the inside of the Manchester United away kit.
Adding a modern touch to the all-blue look, Adidas combines the royal blue Manchester United 2016-2017 away shirt with plain, dark blue shorts, while the Adidas Manchester United 16-17 away kit socks come in the same color and feature the same pattern as the new Manchester United away shirt.
The 16-17 Manchester United Adidas away kit does not mark the first time in recent years that a Manchester United away or third kit is inspired by the 1968 kit. The color has been very popular under previous kit suppliers, with the last two blue Manchester United jerseys being the 2014-15 and 2008-09 third kits from Nike.
