This is the new Bethlehem Steel FC logo for the 2016 USL season.
Following the Union's announcement of the expansion team in August, thousands of fans submitted their ideas, with Bethlehem Steel FC emerging as a clear winner with 80 percent of the votes. The original Bethlehem Steel FC dates back to 1907 and, despite only existing until 1930, it is tied for most US Open Cup titles with five.
“We are thrilled by the strong fan interest in determining the name of our new USL team,” Philadelphia Union Chairman Jay Sugarman said. “We continue to believe in the deep history of this sport in our region and this is a tremendous way to pay homage to the past, while also reflecting the important role of the club in the Union family. Bethlehem Steel FC is the final piece of player development that creates a clear path to first team.”
The new Bethlehem Steel FC logo combines the original Bethlehem Steel icon and colors with those of the Philadelphia Union, paying homage to the rich history and soccer success in the area.
