Liga Mexico: Nike Unveil Green Shirts For Club America, Xolo, Pachuca and Atlas
Nike yesterday unveiled green shirts for their four Mexican clubs to support the Mexican national team. The kits are similar to yellow shirts for five Brazilian teams released in February, while the new green Liga MX Kits were worn in yesterdays matches. The new Green Kits for Club America, Xolo, Atlas and Pachuca were discussed controversially by the fans, who didn't like the idea of changing the traditional club colors to the unusual green color.
The new green kits also promote the new Nike Risk Everything 2014 World Cup Campaign, which was launched last week. Inside the neck of each shirt Nike placed the famous Mexican flag.
The new green Nike Shirts for the Mexican clubs
All new green Nike Liga MX Green Kits are based on the current home kit design, while each shirt got a green paint job to look similar as the shirt of the Mexican national team. An interesting fact is that Mexico is equipped by Adidas, while Nike unveil green shirts for the five Mexican first division teams who are under contract with Nike.
The new Nike Club America 2014 Green Kit features two tones of green with white applications as well as the current home shirt design. The crest of Club America was also changed to the green style to fit with the kit colors. Nike ditched popular blue / yellow color of the famous Mexican club, who have previously just used different tones of blue and gray for the away and third kits.
The Club Atlas Kit colors were changed from the famous red / black colors to two tones of green, while the logo is now green / gold. The other two teams who got special green shirts were Pachuca and Club Tijuana, were both usual home kit colors were changed to two tones of green.
Just two months ahead of the 2014 World Cup Nike tried to show support for the Mexican national team, which will wear Adidas kits during the World Cup. It is only logical that the fans of the clubs didn't like the idea of changing the iconic club kit colors as it is also difficult to imagine Man Utd or Barcelona would play with the national team colors.
